Women achievers from the City who have excelled in various fields will be given annual awards in memory of Lakshmidevi, daughter-in-law of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, the founder of Bangalore.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Monday, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Standing Committee Chairman on Ward Level Works, A H Basavaraju, said: “Lakshmidevi has contributed a lot to our City and hence we have taken a decision to present ‘Laksmidevi award’ to 10 women every year on Kempegowda Jayanti from 2015.”
