Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) Chairman Rahul Khullar on Wednesday said that the telecom regulator will invite public views on the roll-out of broadband in the country.

Opinion on issues related to services offered by Over-the-top (OTT) players like WhatsApp, Skype, Viber will be sought as well. “Hopefully we will come out with a paper on broadband may be by the end of next month,” Khullar said at a telecom summit organised by industry chamber Assocham.

Expressing unhappiness over the slow pace of the roll-out of broadband, he said the paper will be on issues related to the roll-out of broadband services in the country.

Khullar said though Trai plans to come up with a consultation paper on OTT players, he refused to specify the time. The consultation papers are likely to have details on the impact on telecom firms due to services offered by OTT players.
