De Kock deflates Zimbabwe

Last Updated 21 August 2014, 19:42 IST

Opener Quinton de Kock smashed 84 as a weakened South Africa crushed Zimbabwe by seven wickets to complete a whitewash in their three-match ODI series at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on Thursday.

After putting their hosts in to bat, South Africa skittled Zimbabwe for 165 inside 40 overs before chasing down their target to end at 171 for three with 136 balls to spare.

The Proteas, who had already rested fast bowling trio Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel and Vernon Philander for this series, left out their top two batsmen as well for the final match as Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers sat out.

That meant debuts for opener Rilee Rossouw and seamer Mthokozisi Shezi, and a return to the side for fast bowler Marchant de Lange.  ZIMBABWEMasakadza lbw Abbott4   M’bami c Rossouw b De Lange0   Raza c Phangiso b McLaren30  Chigumbura b De Lange90  Williams b Phangiso17  Waller c de Kock b De Lange2   Jongwe lbw Abbott2   Utseya b Parnell2   Nyumbu c Du Plessis b Parnell0   Kamungozi lbw Shezi1   Panyangara (not out)0   Extras (lb-6, W-1117  Total (all out, 39.5 overs)165 Fall of wickets: 1-4, 2-4, 3-55, 4-89, 5-104, 6-109, 7-114, 8-114, 9-119.  Bowling: Abbott 6-1-21-2, De Lange 7.5-0-31-3, McLaren 6-0-53-1, Parnell 8-0-33-2, Shezi 6-2-8-1, Phangiso 6-1-13-1.SOUTH AFRICADe Kock c Williams b P’gara84Rossouw (run out)0   Du Plessis b Williams40Duminy (not out)28  Miller (not out)13  Extras (NB-1, W-5)6   Total (for 3 wkts, 27.2 overs)171Fall of wickets: 1-1, 2-74, 3-144.Bowling: Panyangara 6-0-39-1, Jongwe  5-0-30-0, Kamungozi 3-0-32-0, Nyumbu 5.2-0-33-0, Williams 2-1-1-1, Utseya  6-0-36-0.
