JOIN USMan accused of raping mentally retarded minor daughter
A 13-year-old mentally challenged girl was allegedly sexually abused by her father at their home in Lakshman Rao Nagar in Okalipuram around three months ago.
The girl’s mother approached the police on Thursday and lodged a complaint against her husband.
According to the police, Velu (name changed), a weaver from Tamil Nadu, had sexually abused his daughter around three months ago. He would come home for lunch and sexually abuse the girl while his wife was away at work.
The victim’s maternal grandmother reportedly caught him in the act. She disclosed the matter to the girl’s mother and other family members. They confronted and abused him, leading to a fight.
But Velu got furious and refuted the allegation, claiming that he was being framed and degraded by the family members. The same day, he abruptly left the house and went back to his native place.
Velu’s wife told the police that for the last few weeks, he would call her up and harass her, asking her to get back to him in his hometown, along with their daughter.
The Srirampura police said that when the wife was no longer able to bear her husband’s torture, she approached them and made a complaint.
“We have taken the victim’s statement. She is able to recollect the incident. We are tracing the suspect who is said to be in his native place. Once he is arrested, we’ll be able to piece together the details of the incident.
