JOIN US A pregnant woman committed suicide allegedly due to harassment by her husband and in-laws, at her house in JJ Nagar police limits on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Rukhsar (22), a resident of Padarayanapura.
According to police, Rukhsar was married to Anees, a mechanic. The couple have two children and she was carrying the third child. It is said that Anees and his parents used to harass Rukhsar for dowry.
Unable to bear the torture, she hung herself from a ceiling fan, police said. The incident came to light when her in-laws returned home. They immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital as she was still breathing. However, she died after a while.
Following a complaint of dowry harassment, Anees and his parents have been arrested, police said.
