A newspaper hawker died after a car mowed him down on Banaswadi Main Road on Monday.
The victim Perumal, 47, a resident of Lingarajpuram, was crossing the road at 6.10 am, when R Mary, who was at the wheel, lost balance and mowed him down.
According to the police, Mary rushed him to a nearby hospital in her car, but he failed to respond to treatment and succumbed at 8.30 am.
Mary was arrested and produced before the court.
