Indiranagar 100 ft road to be Karim Khan Road

City’s Indiranagar 100 feet Road will be christened as Dr S K Karim Khan Road, named after the Karnataka’s eminent folklorist and poet on August 31.

Though a resolution was passed eight years ago by the City corporation to name the road after Dr Khan, and State government endorsing Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) resolution, the move was mired in controversy with the ruling BJP, as well as BBMP, seeking to ratify the decision to name it after former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee a few years ago.

With pro-Kannada organisations, Congress as well as JD-S opposing the move demanding that 2006 decision be respected, the ruling BJP in BBMP withdrew its decision, but the formal naming ceremony was unduly delayed.
