Rotary International District 3190 is organising a musical evening in the City on Sunday to raise funds to perform heart surgeries for poor children.

Speaking at a press meet in the City on Thursday, Manjunath Shetty, district governor, Rotary Club, said the musical evening will pay tribute to music directors Roshan and Madan Mohan.

“We are about 4,000 rotarians. We also invite outsiders to attend the show as the money that will be raised through the event will be spent on giving lives to young children,” Shetty said.

Besides, he added that Rotary did this on an annual basis and this year, their target was to help at least 400 poor children. The Club has tied up with hospitals including Jayadeva, Narayana Health, Fortis, Manipal and BGS which have come forward to provide treatment at subsidised rates.

“Children undergoing the surgery will not pay a single rupee. Also, to keep the procedure transparent, when a donor comes forward to aid a poor child, he will be given complete details about the beneficiary,” he said.

Shetty said the beneficiaries would be picked on the basis of their financial status and not produce cards to avail themselves of the treatment. “It is our policy to give preference to those with congenital heart ailments,” Shetty said.

The event wil see participation of singers from both Bangalore and Mumbai. The event will be held at the Good Shepard Auditorium on Richmond Road at 6 pm. Tickets are priced at Rs 800 onwards.
