Actress Neha Patil, who has been signing a spree of movies in Kannada and Tamil, says she is looking to switch up the roles she takes on in the future and hopes that she will get to star in movie with a female lead.

“I have already played the character of a homely girl, a village girl and a rich
girl. Now I want to do something different. I’m looking out for the roles where I can play a handicapped person or a tapori girl who is bold and bindass,” she says.
She adds that there are very few films with female leads but she is willing to wait for them.

“I’m still young and I have a long way to go. I can’t expect roles to be written just for me.”

She says, “People assume that women are quiet and meek, so that is the kind of role that is created for us. But if a powerful character is created with a female lead, it will become a blockbuster.”

She adds, “People should learn to respect women because we all need them. Women are thoroughly under-appreciated.”

The 22-year-old, who is pursuing her aeronautical engineering, says she has a passion for flying.

“Although acting is my profession, my passion is studying. I have always loved to write, every since I was in school. When I was writing my 10th and 12th final exams, I got 10 marks extra because of my of my neat handwriting,” preens the youngster.

But she doesn’t plan to give up acting. “If I don’t put on make-up for a few days, I feel like there is something wrong. So every now and then, I dress up just so that I feel like I have acted.”

According to Neha, it was luck that got her into the film industry. “I didn’t audition or do anything - someone saw my passport size picture and asked me to act in their movie.”
Although Sankranthi is her first film, she says she would like to disregard it.

“I wish it hadn’t been my first movie, for reasons I don’t want to talk about.  I did another movie after that called Sitara, which is yet to be released, and I call that my first film,” she says.

The actress has already bagged about eight projects in a span of two years,
including Samrat with Chiranjeevi Sarja, Title Beka with Duniya Vijay and Tippajji Circle with Pooja Gandhi.
