Govt land valued at Rs 75 crore recovered

The Bangalore Urban district authorities on Saturday recovered one acre and 28 guntas of prime government land at Jaraganahalli in Bangalore South Taluk, valued at about Rs 75 crore.

Revenue records show that the land in survey number 63/3 belonging to the Banashankari Temple, under the custody of Muzarai department. Some influential people had usurped it and were operating illegal sand and construction material business. Being its proximity to the Kumaraswamy Layout flyover and adjacent to the Ring Road, the land commanded very high value.

Police protection

On Saturday, the Bangalore Urban Deputy Commissioner, V Shankar accompanied by Special Deputy Commissioner Shailaja, Assistant Commissioner of  Bangalore South L C Nagaraj, Bangalore South Tahsildar Dr Dayananda, the land was recovered. In view of any law and order situation, huge police bandobast was made. 

After four hours, the officials succeeded in recovering the land.

All through the operation, Shankar and other senior officials were present on the spot. Once the encroachment was cleared, the area was fenced and a board was put up declaring government ownership of the land.
