Staff at taluk office in Mudigere have double work to do.

Apart from the routine office work, they also have the burden of cleaning water clogged in the office daily. Apart from cleaning the water soaked floor and computers, they should also dry the documents that have become wet owing to rain. Courtesy, the leaking roof.

The taluk office located at Mini Vidhan Soudha on Belur road, is facing the problem of water leakage. The building which was constructed in 1983 was changed as Mini Vidhan Soudha 15 years ago. But, the plight of the building is so worse that rain water seeps from all the corners, thus soaking the important documents, computers and electrical equipment.

Treasury is located on one side of the building and precautionary measures have been taken to protect the treasury from rain. As the land records, staff and tahsildar rooms leak, staff and officials sit outside the building and work, which appears as a mockery at the government set up. In order to protect the official documents, they have bundled all documents and piled up in Shirasthedar’s room. The piled up documents are examined once in two days to ensure that they are in a proper condition. This has resulted in people unable to find the documents when they approach the office.

Paints on the walls have vanished due to continuous leakage. Tahsildar is forced to sit in a corner. The staff avoid touching switches or do it with the help of a wooden peace fearing electrocution.
