The affair with classical guitar

A classical guitar concert featuring Icelandic artiste Ogmundur Thor Johannesson was held on Sunday at the auditorium of Bangalore School of Music. Titled ‘The Journey of Classical Guitar’, the concert began with timeless classical pieces from music legends such as Mozart, Telemann and Astor Piazolla. "

It had something for all as he played pieces from easy to difficult, slow-moving to staccato.

A piece by Mozart, ‘16c’ also known as ‘Sonata Facile’, was one of the pieces that was popular among the crowd. Other compositions that were played were the ‘Suita Lirica’ with seven miniatures and ‘The Winter’.

The concert was a treat to every music and guitar enthusiast as it comprised of eclectic compositions of the past which added cheer to the evening.

Ogmundur’s rare display of skills was also not hidden as his ability to pace through the quick finger movements, display of technicalities and emotional depth in the music was displayed.

The artiste has performed in several music concerts and festivals in places like Brazil, China, Taiwan and Austria and has received excellent reviews for his solo recitals.  He is currently working on promoting classical guitar in India.
