Yeddyurappa tries to convince ryots

Earlier in the Assembly Yeddyurappa said that he had directed the State police to not resort to lathicharge despite provocation from the farmers.

Replying to the call attention motion moved by H S Mahadeva Prasad in the Assembly on the recent incidents of violent protests by farmers in Chamarajnagar district, the chief minister replied that he regretted the district administration’s handling of the situation. Stringent action will be taken against all those found guilty, he added.

However, he refused to order a judicial probe into the incident, as demanded by the opposition. The Chief Minister had directed the State police to not resort to firing after the Haveri police firing incident.

Yeddyurappa assured that he would look into all the demands made by farmers in Chamarajnagar, including the provision of quality power supply.
