Promising to put an end to the dispute between the State government and Pramodadevi Wadiyar, wife of the late scion of the royal family Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, Revenue and district-in-charge minister V Sreenivas Prasad said on Tuesday that a ‘surprise’ announcement would be made shortly.

Admitting that there were differences between the government and the royal family, he said that several discussions and meetings were held regarding the same in the past three days.

Responding to a question on when the district administration would invite Pramodadevi for the Dasara celebrations, he said, “Discussions between us have reached the final stages. We will announce a surprise within a day or two,” he said.
He said that all programmes scheduled to be held at the palace premises would be conducted smoothly, like other Dasara programmes in the city. Recently, Prasad had said that Pramodadevi had not given her consent to organise cultural programmes inside the Palace premises.

MP bats for Pramodadevi
The State government should “understand the sentiments” of Pramodadevi and should offer an amicable solution to the palace dispute, said Mysore-Kodagu MP Prathap Simha.

Addressing presspersons, he said that Pramodadevi’s request to cancel cultural programmes at Amba Vilas Palace, was owing to the long mourning period being observed by Wadiyar’s family.

“Pramodadevi had expressed her grief in the past. The State government should respect her views and act based on the requests made by her,” he said.
He said that the chief minister and district-in-charge minister should resolve the dispute that has clouded the Dasara celebrations.
