Vibgyor High skating instructor, Mustafa Murtaza, arrested on July 20 in connection with the rape of a six-year-old student at the school premises, was granted bail by a special court in a case related to sexual assault on a school girl in Whitefield few years ago.

There were two cases of rape against Mustafa — one at Varthur Police Station involving the rape of six-year-old student at Vibgyor High school and another at Whitefield, about a sexual assault  of a girl a few years ago. The special court granted him bail in Vibgyor High case in the first week of this month. The court granted him bail in connection with Whitefield case on September 13.

Mustafa, 30, a resident of Ramakrishnappa Road, near Om Shakti Club, Varthur, was arrested from his house on July 20 in connection with Vibgyor High school incident.

He was booked under Pocso Act, 2012, and IPC Section 376 (rape). The police had seized a laptop and had claimed that he had downloaded pornographic content of schoolgirls being raped. The police jumped to the conclusion that it was Mustafa who raped the victim.

Based on CCTV footage from the school, the police later arrested Lal Giri, 21, and Waseem Pasha, 28, both gymnastics teachers, in connection with the incident. The police gave Mustafa a clean chit and claimed that Lal Giri  and Waseem Pasha had raped the victim.

Soon after the release, Mustafa and his family members went to a mosque to offer prayers.

“My son suffered without any reasons. He was projected as a bad element which tarnished our family reputation,” Murtaza told Deccan Herald.

“The two months’ of ordeal has ended. Those months were difficult. We are happy as our son returned home,” he added.
