Masala dosas are a hot favourite.

True veggies have to search a lot for pure vegetarian restaurants near M G Road.

Thankfully, Sri Sheshamahal restaurant on Church Street is one which caters to the needs of vegetarians.

The five-decade old food corner is quite popular for all varieties of breakfast and rice items. It is a favourite junction for people from all walks of life.

"Most of our clients are working people in and around the area. Since we are in the business for the last 50 years, the customers have developed a kind of bond with the restaurant. Dosa and idli-vada are the fast moving items as many people like to have them,” says M Nagaraj, the proprietor.

The items in the menu list are idli, vada, all varieties of dosa, puri, kharabath, ricebath, curd rice and varieties of bhajjs. The pretty old restaurant was started by M Y Karanth in 1957 and now his sons M Shashidhar and M Nagaraj are looking after it.

We do it conventionally like others but our customers received it wholeheartedly,” beams Nagaraj. He adds, “we have maintained the same menu and quality since its inception and we are giving utmost importance to cleanliness. Almost 90 per cent of our clients are regular customers.”

The food joint is over-crowded in the noon. People who come for shopping on the streets of M G Road and Brigade Road also wish to relish the food here. Debashish, an employee in a private firm at M G Road, is a regular client for the restaurant from six years. “I am loyal to this food corner for many years but I am still not getting bored of the taste. I prefer to have crispy masala dosas here. I feel comfortable and relaxed,” he utters. ‘Sri Sheshamahal’ restaurant is closed on Sundays.
