Posing as police officers, two men robbed three persons of cash, laptops and a mobile phone after picking them up from a parking lot of the Kempegowda International Airport on the pretext of verifying their credentials. The incident took place early Monday morning.

The two cheats approached the trio who were standing in the parking lot, and told them they were policemen and would like to ask them a few questions.

They asked them for their passports and told them they would like to take them to the police station and conduct an enquiry. The three men, believing the duo were police officers, went with them in a car.

But as the car pulled away, the duo took out a knife and threatened the three men with dire consequences if they refused to part with their valuables.

Fearing for their lives, the trio parted with Rs 13,500 in cash, two laptops and a mobile phone.

The miscreants then dropped them near Hebbal Main Road, Mysore Road and Bidadi, and sped away, the police said.

Arun, a native of Kolar Gold Fields, said in his complaint that he and his friend had gone on a trip to Singapore and returned at 11 pm on Sunday. They were waiting for another friend to pick them up when the two suspects approached them around 12.15 am on Monday, and robbed them, the police said.

The area is secured but miscreants have outsmarted the complainants. There are many security guards on the rounds and the police are investigating how these conmen managed to pull off such an act.

Police said there was no Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance in the area where the incident took place. They have gathered some clues and are making efforts to trace the miscreants.
