Three killed in separate accidents

Three people were killed in two separate accidents in Yelahanka and Electronics City traffic police station limits on Tuesday.

A gas tanker rammed a mini goods vehicle, killing two people on the spot on Venkatala flyover in Yelahanka in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to the police, Rudrappa (22) and Upendra (22), who hailed from Hindupur in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, died on the spot, while their associate Krishnamurthy was injured.

Rudrappa and Upendra were on their way to the City market to purchase vegetables when the mini goods vehicle they were travelling by broke down on the flyover, the police said.

They called up their associate Krishnamurthy to get another vehicle and he is said to have arrived at 4.30 am. They had parked the vehicles next to each other so as to transfer the goods, the police said. Then a gas tanker rammed the goods vehicle, killing Rudrappa and Upendra and injuring Krishnamurthy, added the police.

“The driver of the gas tanker did not notice the vehicles as they were parked on the right side of the road. Luckily, the tanker was empty. The driver of the tanker, Satish Kumar, has been arrested,” said a traffic police officer.

In another incident, Loki Das (42), a lorry driver, died and cleaner, Madesh, suffered minor injuries, after their lorry rammed a private bus near Naganathapura junction in Electronics City traffic police station limits.

According to eyewitnesses, the lorry driver was speeding and lost control over the vehicle, ramming the bus waiting at the traffic signal. The police said Das died on the spot. Madesh is being treated for injuries at a hospital.
