The Labour ministry is considering a revamp of Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY) by including wellness checks and OPD facilities to beneficiaries and creating a uniform IT application for all the facilities offered under the scheme. It may also wave Rs 30 the beneficiaries pay for smartcard.

“The revamping is being done to make the scheme transparent and more beneficial to the beneficiaries,” a Labour Ministry official said.

In its report, a high-level committee constituted by the ministry had recommended the large scale revamp to the scheme, which provides cashless health insurance to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families up to Rs 30,000.

“It is essential that a uniform IT application containing all the related modules, for  E G: preauthorization, claims, grievances etc, should be developed and managed by the Ministry of Labour and Employment,’ the committee had said in its report.
