Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala has reportedly asked the State government to submit a detailed action taken report to him, on the findings of the then A T Ramaswamy committee and the then task force for the recovery of government land encroachments headed by retired bureaucrat V Balasubramanian.

Members of the Bhukabalike Virodhi Horata Samithi recently submitted a petition to the Governor on the issue of government land encroachments and urged him to direct the government to take appropriate action. The Samithi members led by freedom fighter H S Doreswamy had been staging an indefinite protest in front of Town Hall in this regard.

Ramaswamy committee

The Ramaswamy committee was a Legislature panel set up to dig out information on the encroachment of government lands in Bangalore Urban district.

The task force was set up to probe the extent of encroachment of the lands across the State. But the subsequent governments have not taken strong measures to recover the encroached lands. Ramaswamy said that he recently had written to the Governor urging him to intervene in the issue.
