Flood-affected farmers to stage protest

He told reporters here on Sunday that the farmers are taking out Vidhana Soudha chalo rally on Monday and will reach Bangalore on Wednesday.

They have planned to lodge a complaint with the Karnataka Lokayukta and State Human Rights Commission in this regard, he said. The Government has completely failed in rehabilitating the affected people. Farmers in these two districts are protesting the laxity on the part of the Government for the last 25 days. Patil said, the Congress too has decided to support the farmers.

Meanwhile, KPCC President R V Deshpande said senior leaders of the party will hold a meeting to decide election of the Legislative Assembly Speaker, scheduled for December 30. The party is in dilemma whether to field its candidate or not.
