TCS to go in for 35,000 campus hirings in FY '16

India's largest software exporter Tata Consultancy Services plans to hire 35,000 employees as part of its campus hiring in fiscal 2016.

“We plan to do 35,000 campus hirings in 2015-16,” TCS Executive Vice-President and global head for human resources, Ajoy Mukherjee said.

“We remain bullish about hiring numbers for next year,” he added. As far as the current fiscal is concerned, the company has already achieved its targets for campus hiring.

“We had planned to hire 25,000 campus hirings in 2014-15 and we have already done that,” Mukherjee said. The company had set a total hiring target of 55,000 in the current fiscal and is well on course to overshoot the target.

“We have hired 36,000 employees already and will exceed the 55,000 number that we had given earlier,” Mukherjee said.

Mukherjee did not give any specific targets as far as attrition rates are concerned for the next fiscal. The company had an attrition rate of 12.8 per cent for the second quarter ended September 30, 2014.

He, however said that utilisation rates could be lower due to hiring of more freshers. “Hiring of more freshers may reduce the utilisation rates. However, I cannot give any targets in terms of the utilisation rates that we are looking at,” Mukherjee said. TCS’s utilisation rate currently stands at 81.3 per cent.
