JOIN USA 45-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping his 19-year-old relative in Anchepalya, off Tumkur Road, under Madanayakanahalli police limits.
According to the police, the victim, who was staying at her sister’s house for the holidays, was all alone at home when the accused, Dharmappa, 45, approached her on Tuesday (October 14). He asked the victim if he could come inside the house and when she told him that no one was there, he went away.
He then came back later, asked her for somewater, latched the door when she went to get water and raped her.
The victim tried to raise an alarm but was overpowered by Dharmappa, who fled the spot after raping her, added police.
The traumatised victim was tight-lipped about the incident but when she started suffering from pain, she told her sister about it. Doctors on Thursday confirmed that she was sexually assaulted, police said.
The police arrested Dharmappa and sent him for medical exam ination. He was later produced before the court.A case has been registered.
Driver stabbed
The police on Thursday chased down and nabbed a history-sheeter, who stabbed an autorickshaw driver near Kodichikkanahalli under Bommanahalli outpost police station. Around 9 pm on Thursday, the accused Venkat threatened autorickshaw driver Madesh of dire consequences if he (Madesh) did not give him money.
When Madesh hesitated, an enraged Venkat stabbed Madesh in the stomach and fled the spot.
Passersby informed the police and shifted Madesh to a nearby hospital. He is said to be out of danger.
The police, who received a tip-off that Venkat was moving towards Bommanahalli junction, rushed to the spot and nabbed the culprit after a one kilometre chase.
Venkat, a rowdy-sheeter at the Madiwala police station, has several cases of robbery and attempt to murder registered against him at Anekal and Bommanahalli police station. A case has been registered and further probe is on.
