Starting Nov, parking rates to go up in N Delhi

Starting November, parking  vehicles will cost more in North Delhi areas. The North Corporation has passed a proposal to make changes in the existing parking rates and bring in hourly rates in its Standing Committee meeting on Friday.

The revised rates in North Delhi are high than the recent hike in parking rates in South Delhi.

According to the new rates, one has to pay Rs 10 to park a two-wheeler for an hour at surface parking (in front of markets), and Rs 5 per hour up to five hours and maximum of Rs 100 for 24 hours. A monthly pass will cost Rs 500.

At present, the corporation charges Rs 7 to park a two-wheeler for an hour and Rs 10 for 24 hours. Currently, a monthly pass cost Rs 250.

One has to shell out Rs 20 to park a four-wheeler for an hour at surface parking and Rs 10 per hour up to five hours and maximum of Rs 200 for 24 hours. A monthly pass will cost Rs 1,500.

At present, the corporation charges Rs 10 to park a four-wheeler for an hour and Rs 20 for 24 hours. Currently, a monthly pass cost Rs 500.

“The revised rates may be implemented in North Delhi Municipal Corporation and Notice Inviting Tenders (NITS) will be shot accordingly,” said the proposal. “A three-member committee may be constitued for examining and recommending the changes in monthly license fee in respect of parking contracts entered into on prevalent parking charges,” it added.

On Wednesday, the South Corporation increased parking rates under its areas. According to the revised rates, one has to pay Rs 10 to park a two-wheeler for an hour at surface parking (in front of markets), and Rs 50 for 24 hours. A day pass for a month will cost Rs 600 and Rs 1,000 will be charged for day and night pass. At present, the South Corporation charges Rs 7 to park a two-wheeler for an hour.

One has to shell out Rs 20 to park a four-wheeler for an hour at surface parking and Rs 100 for 24 hours. A day pass for a month will cost Rs 1,200 and Rs 2,000 will be charged for day and night pass.
