Bangalore sees 36% more hiring in Sept

Hiring sentiment across the country remained positive even as Bangalore recorded highest growth of 36 per cent in hiring across industries during the month of September, according to Naukri Job Speak Index data released on Monday.

Bangalore saw the highest job growth among the top metros, followed by Pune with an increase of 35 per cent in hiring during September, the Index noted. On a national basis, hiring witnessed 23 per cent growth with sectors such as banking and IT seeing an increase of 52 per cent and 34 per cent respectively in September 2014 as compared to September 2013.

Info Edge India MDand CEO Hitesh Oberoi said, “The Naukri Job Speak Index has been growing steadily for the past two months, suggesting a sustained momentum in hiring activity. We expect the upward growth trend to continue in the coming months.” Apart from the banking and IT sectors, the oil and gas and pharmaceutical sectors saw year-on-year growth of 35 per cent and 28 per cent respectively on the Index during September. The telecom sector moved positively with the Index rising 26 per cent year-on-year in September. The insurance and BPO sectors experienced growth with the Index going up by 16 per cent and 13 per cent respectively in the same period.

Sectors like construction and media saw growth with the Index rising 10 per cent and 6 per cent respectively on a year-on-year basis.Demand for professionals working in the human resources and banking sectors grew the most with in the Index moving up by 35 per cent and 36 per cent respectively during the month of September 2014 over a one-year period.

Hiring activity witnessed an upsurge across all experience levels. Professionals across all experience levels saw between 1 and 3 per cent increase in hiring levels in September 2014 compared to September 2013.
