A peaceful festival

The students of Baldwin Methodist College celebrated an eco-friendly Deepavali recently. The youngsters had pledged that they wouldn’t light crackers and add to the increasing air and sound pollution in the City.

They also spread the message that this year, the festival should be celebrated in such a way that there were no eye injuries.

The students, lecturers and other staff members were dressed in an ethnic style adding all the more to the festive fervour on campus. The festival began with several unique competitions like ‘rangoli’, pot breaking, cookery, singing and dancing competitions. Apart from these, a bullock cart was the centre of attention.

Principal Joshua Samuel, lecturers and other staff participated in pot breaking competition. ‘Diyas’ were distributed among everyone and the students and teachers created awareness to not burst crackers and celebrate the festival without harming anyone.
