Teenage girl alleges rape, abduction

A 17-year-old girl on Monday alleged that two youths had abducted her four days ago and sexually assaulted her. 

The youths have been identified as Madhu and his friend Basavaraju. A senior police officer said, “We have arrested the prime suspect Madhu in this regard.

We have also detained Basavaraju for interrogation. Madhu and the victim were subjected to medical tests. We would be able to ascertain the veracity of the victim’s allegations only after receiving the medical reports.” 

According to police, Madhu stayed in the same locality as did the victim. Madhu and the victim had been in a relationship for the last few months. She went missing from the house four days ago and returned on Monday. 

Then her parents approached the police along with her and lodged the complaint, police said. 

Youth killed

A 21-year-old youth was killed when a BMTC bus ran him over on Hennur Main Road on Monday. 

The victim was identified as Mahesh, a resident of Indiranagar. His friend Biswas who was also injured in the accident is being treated at a private hospital, said the police.

According to the police, Mahesh and Biswas were heading towards Indiranagar on a two-wheeler. A BMTC bus from Hennur moving towards Shivajinagar was in front of the bike. The bus stopped near Charles School near Davis Road for a few seconds as passengers alighted. Mahesh, riding behind the bus, applied the brake but lost control and they fell off the bike.

Mahesh came under the rear wheel of the bus and suffered severe injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Mahesh and Biswas hailed from Nepal and had moved to the City eight years ago. Till recently, Mahesh was working with a private firm in Varthur and had quit the job a couple of days ago. 

The police have charged the bus driver Narayanswamy for rash and negligent driving.

Boy dies in accident

A 13-year-old boy was mowed down by a Tempo Traveller van at Pelekamma village near Chikkajala on Monday morning.

The victim was identified as Kushal, a resident of Pelekamma village. Kushal’s parents, Manjunath and Suguna, are labourers.

The accident occurred when Kushal was returning home at 7.30 am on his bicycle after buying materials at a nearby shop. The driver abandoned the van and fled the spot, the Chikkajala traffic police said.
