Confident Delhi eye first away win against Goa

Last Updated 31 October 2014, 19:03 IST

Delhi Dynamos will be looking to post their first away victory when they lock horns with a winless FC Goa in the Indian Super League at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda here on Saturday.

With one win and three draws, Delhi Dynamos are placed fourth in the table with six points. They had scored an impressive 4-1 win against Chennaiyin FC at home, but received a set back when they were held to a goalless draw by NorthEast United in their last match in Delhi.

On the other hand, FC Goa have just one point from their four matches and are placed at the bottom of the table. They will have an uphill task at hands when they face a team having a strong in defence and good attack. However, Delhi Dynamos coach Harm Van Veldhoven does not want take the home side for granted as he feels that FC Goa are good players who can unsettle their opponents on a given day.

FC Goa have played well in all their four matches so far but were found wanting in front of the goal which saw them loose three matches. Luck has also not been there on FC Goa’s side as the woodwork came into their way in their match against Chennaiyan FC and Atletico de Kolkata, and tomorrow they will be hoping to get their first win in front of the home crowd.

FC Goa coach Zico is pleased the way his boys have played in all the four matches. “We have been creating some very good opportunities, but unfortunately didn’t manage to convert those opportunities into goals. We have been training hard for the last few days. The boys seem fit and confident. We look forward to tomorrow’s match and hoping for the first win in front of the home crowd who have supported and encouraged the team in their defeat,” said Zico.  FC Goa’s Australian striker Tolgay Ozbey said the team was playing well and it was just a matter of time before it would get that first win.”

AIFF reduces Habas ban

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Friday reduced Atletico de Kolkata head coach Antonio Lopez Habas's four-match ban to two and put him on two-month probation. If Habas commits another infringement he would have to serve out his two-match ban again.

"Head Coach of Atletico de Kolkata shall serve the suspension of four matches as under: Suspension for two consecutive matches of ISL played or shall be played by the team after October 23 as per fixture of ISL. Further, implementation of sanction of remaining two matches shall remain suspended for a probationary period of two months from October 23.

"During this two months' probation period, if Antonio Lopez Habas commits another infringement, the suspension shall be automatically revoked and the sanction applied; it will be added to the new sanction pronounced for the new infringement," the AIFF disciplinary committee said in a statement.
