The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) on Monday organised an interactive session with a 14-member business delegation from Tomsk region of Russia.
Welcoming the delegation, FKCCI president S Sampathraman said the meeting heralds the beginning of a relationship with a region of the world representing “the island of intelligence and ocean of resources”.
“We recognise that Tomsk is a leader in the Russian economy in many ways. It has the largest number of small enterprises and number of employees in small business. It is one of the leading entrepreneurship development regions in Russia and Siberia,” he said.
Sampathraman said that Indian investments in Russia are estimated to be $7 billion, a bulk of it in the energy sector, while Russian investments in India are estimated at $3 billion, primarily in the telecommunications sector.
