The State government will host a maiden statewide children's film festival from November 14 to 20.The unique feature of the Karnataka International Children’s Film Festival (KINCHIFF) is that there will be synchronised screenings throughout the State. This would mean that in every district films would be screened at the same time to reach out to children. The government has also planned to take DVD copies of the movies so that children at the gram panchayat level, too, could watch them.

A list of 15 films from India and abroad have been selected for the festival. The screening will be done at 30 district centres. The organisers said the first edition would be considered a test run. Based on the feedback this year, it will be expanded for the next year.

The films have been categorised for age groups six to 10 years and 11 to 16 years. Some of the films to be screened are ‘Taina’ (Brazil), ‘Pani Kluci’ (Czech Republic), ‘Alegalu’ (India) and ‘Khobh’ (India). Time-table for the screening of films will be announced shortly.

Speaking in the City on Monday, Minister for Infrastructure and Information, R Roshan Baig, also announced that the seventh Bengaluru International Film Festival will be held from December 4 to 11.

The delegate registration will commence from November 10 at Badami House; Information Department, Infantry Road; Suchitra Film Society, Banashankari; and at Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce premises. Online registrations will also be available. The delegate fee will be Rs 600 for the public, Rs 300 for students, film society members, senior citizens and KFCC members.

Cell for Biffes
Hearing complaints about the absence of a fixed annual schedule for the international film festival in Bangalore, Baig said he would direct the officials concerned to set up a cell for Biffes so that after this year’s festival, preparations could imme-diately begin for the next year’s event and the annual schedule fixed.
