Just a few days after son of a top police officer in Jammu and Kashmir inadvertently ‘exposed’ his father’s lavish lifestyle and abuse of official position, National Conference leader Nasir Aslam Wani’s son was seen brandishing a gun in a photo, which has gone viral on social networking sites.

The pictures show Wani’s 20-year-old son wearing the uniform of an IPS officer and posing with the gun next to armed personnel. However, Wani was quick to defend his son. “I am not aware of this but will check what is on his Facebook page,” Wani said.

“Is this an offence? My son wants to be a police officer to serve the country. I will nevertheless check when these pictures were taken,” he added.

Wani, a close aide of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and a former minister of state for Home, was recently in the midst of controversy himself after pictures of him kicking a party worker in Ganderbal district had gone viral.

He later denied the incident and said the video footage was doctored.

Last week, 28-year-old Tony Farhan Beig had uploaded his father and Deputy Inspector General of Police Jammu Shakeel Ahmed Baig’s picture with a policeman helping him to put on his shoes. It had created a hullabaloo in J&K, after which authorities ordered a probe into the incident.

Similarly, two weeks ago, an audio of Minister of State of Power Waqar Rasool had gone viral on social networking sites and WhatsApp. In the audio, Waqar, who is from Congress, was abusing his cabinet colleague and National Conference leader Muhammad Akbar Lone.
