JOIN USPolice have arrested a 24-year-old man on the suspicion that he murdered his friend and fled with his valuables near Bommavaram Road under Devanahalli police station limits on the night of October 31.
Police said that Karthik, from Devanahalli, had gone out for dinner with his friend Shivakumar, a computer technician.
On their way back, Karthik told Shivakumar he wanted to relieve himself.
So they stopped by an isolated place. Just then, Karthik took a knife and repeatedly stabbed Shivakumar. Making sure that he was dead, Karthik made off with his mobile phone, wallet, hard disk and the two-wheeler.
The murder came to light the next day when passersby saw the body and called the police.
During the investigation, police identified the deceased and gathered some vital evidence, based on which they hunted down Karthik.
A police officer claimed that Karthik had “confessed” to the murder which he had committed to pay off his debts.
