Media overplaying incident: George

 Home Minister K J George on Wednesday said the visual media was “overplaying” the Thirthahalli incident for the sake of increasing their Television Rating Points (TRPs).

Replying to queries from media in the City, George said the visual media was repeatedly telecasting the incident as if there was no other news. George said in reality the nu­mber of rape cases had come down across the State but the visual media had been reporting as if the cases were on the rise without verifying facts. A minor girl had been abducted last week but she later died due to health complications in Thirthahalli. Earlier, speaking to reporters at the Vidhana Soudha, George said the police can arrest the culprits only after gathering evidence.
