DDPI asked to submit report on donation menace

ZP member claims to be a victim of the problem

ZP President Pushpavathi Amarnath on Thursday sought a report from the Deputy Director of Public Instructions (DDPI), H R Basappa on the allegations of donation menace at Viveka School of Excellence at Sargur, H D Kote taluk in the district.

Following allegations from local ZP member H R Bhagyalakshmi, ZP president asked the DDPI to submit a report after inspecting the school along with the members of Education Standing Committee and also the complainant ZP member.

Bhagyalakshmi, who had levelled similar allegations earlier, was not satisfied with the report giving a clean chit to the school. Previously, when the Block Education Officer (BEO) of H D Kote taluk had been asked to vet into the complaint, he had directed the education coordinator to look into it.

The education coordinator, after inspecting the school had given a clean chit saying the CBSE school was not collecting more than the prescribed fee.

Irked, Bhagyalakshmi challenged the opinion of the coordinator. “I had paid a donation of Rs 12,000 as building development fund for admitting my child to the school. At the time of admission, it was told that only academic fee has to be borne by the parents.”

Illegal layout

Following allegations from K M Manju, about a private party encroaching 32 guntas of kharab land abutting 5.13 acres of land in the limits of Manuganahalli Gram Panchayat in Hunsur taluk, to develop a layout, ZP CEO P A Gopal promised to refer the matter to the Revenue department for further action.

According to Manju, the officials had connived with the realtor by forging the records related to kharab land.
