Parents of J&K youths reject Army compensation

The families of the two youths who were killed in firing in Budgam district on Friday rejected the Army’s compensation.

“The blood of my teenage son is not so cheap that I could barter it. I reject the compensation. I will pay Rs 20 lakh to the Army in return for handing over the killers to us,” Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, father of 14-year-old Faisal, told Deccan Herald.

“His killing has left us shattered and no money or compensation can heal our wounds,” he said and accused that the Army and police personnel, deployed outside their residence in Nowgam, were not allowing people to visit them for offering condolence.
His views were echoed by Ghulam Mohammad Dar, whose son Mehraj-ud-din, 20, was also killed in the incident.

“The compensation will not give me my son back. I will give the Army whatever it wants, the earnings of my life, all my possession, but all I want is that they must declare the names along with the pictures of the personnel involved,” he said.
