Financial dispute led to techie's murder, say cops

Mahadevapura police on Sunday claimed to have achieved a major breakthrough in the murder case of Prajith Anand, a software engineer who was found dead at Hoodi Cross on Nov 5.

It has now transpired that Prajith's two friends - Vikas and Dheeraj - are behind the murder. The two are suspected to be hiding in Kerala and a police team from the City has left for the state to trace them.Prajith, Vikas and Dheeraj were friends and natives of Kerala.

According to the police, Prajith had borrowed Rs three lakh from Vikas on different occasions but had failed to repay the money. Vikas had fought with Prajith over the issue. There was a fight on November 4 and Prajith had promised Vikas to repay the loan the next day. Following a call on his cellphone, Prajith went out at 8.30 pm on Nov 4, but was found murdered later.

The police recovered Prajith's cellphone from the spot. They could not open it as Prajith had given a password for it. Prajith had set his bike's registration number as his password.

His brother knew it and he opened the lock. Based on call details the police got vital clues and concluded that Vikas and Dheeraj had murdered Prajith over the financial matter, the police added.
