Last Updated 10 November 2014, 20:35 IST

Two persons diverted the attention of a building contractor and made away with Rs two lakh in cash he had kept in the utility box of his two-wheeler on Magadi Road on Monday.

Surya Prakash had withdrawn the cash from Karur Vysya Bank branch. On his way back from the bank, he noticed that one of the tyres of the scooter was punctured. As he stopped the two-wheeler, two people approached him and offered help. While one of them helped Surya Prakash remove the deflated tyre, the other lifted the bag containing cash from the utility box and fled. Surya Prakash realised that he lost the money little later and he raised an alarm. The one who was assisting Prakash too tried to flee, but a few passersby chased and caught him. He has been identified as Anand, 35.

He was later handed over to the police and the Basaveshwarnagar police arrested him.
During the interrogation, he told the police that they had punctured the scooter tyre when Prakash was drawing money from the bank.
