A 26-year-old man working as a driver has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl after offering her a lift in his car in west Delhi’s Ranhola, police said on Monday.

The victim, a class 8 student of a government school, knew accused Nitin, who is a resident of Vikaspuri in west Delhi.

“Nitin works with a businessman as his driver. He was produced before a city court that sent him to judicial custody,” said a police officer.

Police have also recovered a Hyundai Accent car that was used by Nitin.
Police said the 13-year-old girl was walking back home from a local market when the incident occurred on Saturday.

In her statement, she told police that she was near Commando Chowk in Vikas Nagar when Nitin arrived there in the car.

“Nitin offered the girl a lift in his car that was accepted by her. Instead of dropping the girl home, Nitin took her to a secluded place and raped her in the car. He threatened to kill the girl when she resisted his acts. Nitin later dropped her outside her home and fled,” the officer added.

The girl narrated the entire incident to her parents, who approached Ranhola police. Nitin was arrested after a case under IPC and POCSO Act was registered.

Woman alleges gang-rape

In another case, a 30-year-old woman from south Delhi’s Munirka filed an FIR with Dwarka South police station in which she alleged that she was gang-raped by four men at a guest house on Sunday.

Police said all the four men are known to the woman and they were having a longstanding dispute over money.

While Vikas, Anil and Ramesh were arrested on Monday evening, Vinod is absconding.
Police said the woman also accused the four men of tearing her clothes at the guest house.

“She had come to the guest house with a friend to discuss the issue,” police said.
