A minor girl from Bengaluru was allegedly raped by an unidentified man  near Neelanahalli Gate in the taluk on Monday night.

According to the police, the girl, a class 10 student and resident of Banaswadi in Bengaluru, left her home after quarrelling with her parents. She came to Mysuru and was sitting in the railway station after visiting Chamundi Hills. A person befriended her and offered  to drop her home the next day.

He told her that he would take her to his farmhouse in Neelanahalli where she could stay for the night. However, after taking the girl there, he raped and abandoned her. She came to the village and informed the residents, the police added.

Melkote sub-inspector Chandrashekhar said that the rape survivor had given a description of the suspect’s appearance and a manhunt had been launched to trace him. The girl had been admitted to MIMS Hospital.

District in-charge minister Ambareesh and Primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Ratnakar visited the girl at the hospital.
