JOIN USThree cases of rape have been reported in the City.A 19-year-old girl lodged a complaint at Vidyaranyapura police station recently, alleging that her father repeatedly raped her when she was a teenager in 2008 and 2009.
A few weeks ago, her parents had lodged a complaint at the same police station that their daughter had been kidnapped by their relative Amit Singh, a software engineer.
Police traced the girl and Singh by tracking their mobile phones. When they went to bring back the girl, she told police that she had gone with Singh on her own will.
A senior police officer said, “The case has been registered and the police have sent a notice to the Army headquarters in the City, as the accused is serving in the military. The girl works for an NGO.”
Caught in a bid to rape
Manjunath, a 25-year-old construction labourer, was caught red-handed by the public when he was trying to rape a nine-year-old girl in Rajagopala Nagar police limits on Monday night. The suspect and the victim were neighbours. On Monday night, he noticed the victim playing in front of her house. He lured her by offering candies and took her to an isolated place, where he undressed her.
A few people saw Manjunath misbehaving with the girl, thrashed him and handed him over to the police.
Neighbour booked
The parents of a 18-year-old girl have lodged a complaint alleging that their daughter was raped by a neighbour, in Kumaraswamy Layout police limits.
The suspect is Rizwan, who owns a vulcanising shop in the same area. On November 1, the girl left her house for college.
However, she did not return home in the evening. The parents approached the police and registered a complaint.
The next day, they found that their daughter had eloped with their neighbour Rizwan and informed the police. On November 4, the police found the duo near a bus stop in Kumaraswamy Layout and took them to the station. Based on the complaint, the suspect was booked for kidnap and rape, police said.
