Last Updated 12 November 2014, 02:54 IST

Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday called the Narendra Modi government a ‘coward’ and said the borders of the country had become unsafe during the current regime.

“The government is a coward. That is why China and Pakistan have adopted aggressive posture at the borders,” Yadav said while speaking at a function here.
The SP leader said the borders of the country were not safe under the present regime and stressed the need to ‘raise the morale of the forces’.

He also said there was a need to give more facilities to the members of the armed forces. He also attacked the Modi government for what he claimed ‘failing to tame the rising prices’ and check corruption. “This government has not taken any step in these directions,” he added.

“BJP had made tall promises but its government has not delivered any of them,” he added.

Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday said social media played a pivotal role in the party’s victory in Uttar Pradesh, reports PTI from Lucknow.

Addressing a seminar on ‘social media: boon or bane’ organised by Indian Federation of Working Journalists, he said no political party could make progress by ignoring social media.

“Akhilesh Yadav is heading a majority government in Uttar Pradesh and social media had played a pivotal role in this success,” he said.

“Social media has put forth the efforts of SP before the people. As a result, the party gained sympathy of students, lawyers, farmers and all sections of the society,” he added.
He claimed that the attitude of social media towards SP has been good so far.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav landed into controversy last year in March for claiming that media was defaming the SP government.
