Rs 1,000 crore for developing City roads

The State Cabinet on Wednesday decided to release Rs 1,000 crore to Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) exclusively for the development of roads under Nagarothana Yojane.

Disclosing this to reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Law Minister T B Jayachandra said the BBMP has been directed to invite tenders separately for each of the Assembly constituency under the scheme. A number of works planned to be taken up under the scheme in the last year are still pending. They will be taken up this year, he added.

Besides, the Cabinet gave its approval for establishing solid waste management units by Sateram Enterprises and Maltose Agri Products Private Limited near Bengaluru. Tipping or processing fee of Rs 253 per tonne has been fixed for both the units, he added.

This apart, the Cabinet gave its approval to the Fire and Emergency Services department to purchase 90-meter high modern aerial ladder platform. A decision was also taken to revise the pay scale of the staff of BBMP hospitals, including doctors and nurses.
