JOIN USThe CCB sleuths busted a fake online shopping office in HSR Layout, by arresting six persons on Saturday.
The sleuths raided the office premises, following a complaint by a person on the Twitter account of the City police. The accused used to run a fake online shopping site called BIGSOP.Com and would send pop-ups randomly stating that “You are the lucky internet winner of iPhones for Rs 599.”
Customers would register and pay Rs 599, but they would be asked to settle for some cheap handset or convert their money into points and force them to buy fake stuff. They had also set up a BPO unit to receive calls from customerss.
The police are verifying the accounts of the suspects to ascertain the number of people they have cheated and the money collected from them.
