People's Problems

Pavements in pathetic condition

Ehe pavements on Sanjaynagar Main Road (Rajagopal Road) are in a horrible condition, and hence cannot be used for walking. Walking on the main road itself is highly risky, especially for senior citizens. Vehicles are parked on either sides of the road and in the remaining narrow space available, buses, two-wheelers, water tankers, cars and other vehicles keep speeding.

The BBMP officials and the police are requested to take immediate action in the matter.

Faulty water meter not replaced

We got water meter installed on April 5, 2013, (RR No. E-315025) at Uthradam Bhavan, 2nd Cross, Sir MV Nagar, Ramamurthy Nagar Post. We started getting the water from April 8, but did not get the bill till December 2013. I visited the BWSSB office at Ramamurthy Nagar where I was asked to pay Rs 80 for generating the first bill. In March 2014 we received a bill for Rs 2,700 which was paid. The bills were not received regularly every month and we have paid them whenever they were issued. On November 10 we received a bill for Rs 12,264 asking us to pay the sum before November 15.

We have been visiting the authorities concerned frequently seeking rectification of the bill, since the amount claimed is excess. We have also requested the BWSSB authorities to check the meter. However, no one has turned up till this day. Will anyone from BWSSB take the initiative to solve the issue? There is no one to attend to people's grievances at the BWSSB office.

Stray dog menace

Stray dogs in Poornaprajna Layout, Kathriguppe, Banashankari III Stage have been creating huge problems for the residents. They chase motorcyclists and children and elderly people are easy targets for these dogs. The residents are not able to sleep in the night because of continuous barking. The Palike authorities have not taken any action despite bringing the matter to their notice.

Irregular buses

There are very few BMTC buses plying on the Dell to Banashankari, ITPL to Banashankari, Electronic City to Banashankari routes. The few buses that run are either unscheduled or follow their own route. For example, buses from Dell terminate at Madivala Iyapppa temple after Koramangala water tank.

Despite paying fare till the Madivala Masjid stop, passengers are forced to walk more than a km to reach Silk Board in order to change connection to Banashankari and beyond. Further all the buses that arrive at Silk Board are either fully crowded or and do not stop at all.

Commuters were stranded at every stop and despite paying for their monthly pass, they were forced to take autos, private buses. This seems to be a continuing issue and even though many grievances were seen on this column, the BMTC do not seem to be doing much about it. Is there a regulatory agency above BMTC that can look into this and resolve the concerns of monthly pass holders and other commuters?.

Underpass in bad state

The underpass located at BEML Layout, Rajarajeshwari Nagar is in a pathetic condition. This underpass has been asphalted only once - when it was constructed. The situation worsens during rains. A complaint in this regard this was lodged five months ago (with BBMP) and it still has not been resolved. The docket number is W16015969. Hope the authorities concerned will take immediate steps to lay the road.

Vehicles parked on roadside

Ambulances and other vehicles are always parked in front of the government maternity hospital on Sirsi Circle - Chamarajpet Road, hampering movement of pedestrians. The vehicles are being parked despite there being a no parking sign board. Further, people urinate behind these parked vehicles, making the matters worse. Traffic police should take necessary action to prevent this illegal parking.

Repair this road

The stretch of Kanakapura Main Road between Konanakunte Cross and Banashankari is so bad that it is not fit for humans to travel on this road. The road has not been asphalted for several years. A thick cloud of dust rises whenever a vehicle moves on the road.

The potholes are so deep that if not observed carefully, the road users virtually fall into them.

Vegetables are sold on the road side and the vendors dispose of the rotten ones on the road, leading to unbearable stench. Repeated complaints made to the authorities concerned have not been of any use. The office of a Lok Sabha member and minister in charge is located at the centre of Sarakki Market. But they are unaware of the pathetic condition of this road since they do not take this route.

Hope the authorities concerned and the minister in charge will understand the difficulty of the common man and take steps to repair the road at the earliest.

Water stagnant in building under construction

The construction work of a multi-storey building on 6th Cross, 2nd Main Road in Indirangar First Stage has been stopped for some reason. Rain water has stagnated in the basement of the building which has turned into a breeding pond for mosquitoes.

The health authorities concerned are requested to drain out stagnant water and prevent spreading of diseases and recover the cost from the negligent owners of the building.
