Actress Ramya Barna doesn’t shy away from experimenting with different roles. She’s hoping she gets something really unique. She recently acted in a Tulu project called ‘Madhime’ and has wrapped up a Kannada project which is slated for a January release.

Ramya Barna dubs her experience of acting in the Kannada film industry as “interesting”.
“Iam trying to do something different and unconventional. Ever, since I started my career I have always worked on commercial films but now I’m looking at working on some non-commercial roles as well,” she says. She adds that even if she were a member of the audience she wouldn’t want to watch the same old drama or romantic movies.

“ I hoping for a twist in the characters that I play. I’m open to new talents because I have worked with established directors and new comers,” says Ramya.

Ramya confesses that acting was the last thing on her mind when she was in college. It all happened by chance, she says. “Although, I was modeling in my college days,  I refused to take up film offers. But I think I was destined to be an actor. So, one day I decided to give it a try and haven’t looked back since,” she reasons.

Ramya has also managed to grab sometime to travel. “I have taken a break of sorts. I handle a travel company in South India and it is taking up a lot of my time. But I love what I am doing at the moment. I get inspired when I travel and see different things. Traveling teaches a lot about life.”

Talking about how she chooses a script, Ramya says, “Just the story could inspire me or the character could inspire me as well. Since I’m an avid traveler, location too plays an important huge role.” Ramya is eagerly waiting to work with Sudeep and Shivarajkumar as she has never worked with these two stars.

Ramya has worked with Puneeth Rajkumar in two films and her admiration towards is never-ending. “Puneeth Rajkumar has always been my favourite actor even before I became an actor. After working with him I saw a different person altogether. He is very hardworking, humble, down-to-earth and a genuine person. I respect him a lot and have learnt a lot from him.”
