JOIN USA 23-year-old man, Harish Bovi, was arrested by Hiriyadka police, on the charge of sexually assaulting a minor.
According to the police, the accused, a car driver from Kurkal in Karkala taluk, befriended the victim through Facebook. The victim had been in contact with him on Facebook for the past few months.
The victim, who lodged a complaint with the Hiriyadka police, alleged that the Harish forcibly took her into the forest area in Kanjaru village and sexually assaulted her, the police said.
The police added that the accused had confessed to have sexually assaulted her on previous occasions also.
The accused is charged with IPC Section 376, 366 A and 506 read with section 4 of
Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012.
The victim has been sent for medical examination. Harish was produced before the court and is remanded in judicial custody till November 25.
