The CBI Special Court has passed an order on November 7, permitting Vijaynagar (Hosapete) MLA Anand Singh, who is in jail for the past 13 months facing charges of carrying out illegal iron ore mining, to attend the meeting of the officials of various departments of his constituency.

The meeting is scheduled to be held on November 27,28 and 29. The Court, however, has instructed that two security guards should be appointed to keep an eye on him, and after the meeting, lodge him in Hosapete’s Sub-jail.

But, MLA Anand Singh, it seems, is embarrassed with this arrangement, and is reportedly not keen on attending the meeting. The sources close to the MLA informed Deccan Herald that MLA feels that attending the meeting escorted by the security personnel and thereafter being shifted to the Sub-jail in front of the people of his own constituency, would cause lot of embarrassment. The sources disclosed that he is instead preparing to approach the High Court against the restrictions imposed by the CBI Court.

Meanwhile, the permission granted by the CBI Court, has created a minor sensation among the BJP workers here, and are keen to meet their leader after a long gap.

The case has generated lot of interest in the political circles here. The leaders are eagerly waiting the know whether the High Court would relax the restrictions imposed by the CBI Court or Mr Anand Singh would attend the meeting with security escorts.

MLA need attend

As far as the interests of the people of the constituency is concerned, Mr Anand Singh need to attend the meeting of the officials. Development activities in the constituency have naturally taken a backseat during his absence. Even in the past, the Court had granted him permission for attending the assembly sessions or get treatment whenever his health condition required. At no point of time during these relaxations, the sources asserted, he had ever tried to influence either directly or indirectly the material witnesses in the case. Citing this, the lawyers representing Mr Anand Singh had appealed for 15 days interim bail.

The order

CBI Special Court Judge Ashwath Narayan gave the permission for Anand Singh to attend the meeting to be held in Hosapete or nearby place on November 27, 28 and 29.

The order however, stipulates that Mr Anand Singh, accompanied by two security guards, should be taken at 11:00 am on November 26 from Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Prisons to Hosapete’s Sub-jail. Moreover, security guards should accompany him to the meeting to be held from 10:00 am till 5:00 pm on all three days. He should be brought back to the Sub-jail everyday before 6:00 pm. And on November 30, Mr Anand Singh should be deposited in Parappana Agrahar Prisons before 6:00 pm.
