No bail to judicial paper leak case accused in R'than

Last Updated 19 November 2014, 03:55 IST

A court here rejected the interim anticipatory bail application of former Rajasthan Public Service Commission chairman Habib Khan Gauran, who is allegedly involved in the Rajasthan Judicial Services (RJS) paper leak.

The development on Tuesday cleared all hurdles, following which Gauran can be arrested any time by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of police.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge P P Gupta rejected the interim anticipatory bail of Gauran. Earlier, the magistrate had granted 10-day bail to Gauran, which ended on November 13.

Gauran’s counsel Gauri Shankar Khandelwal filed a fresh application to extend the interim anticipatory bail, but it was rejected by the court.

The Additional Director General of the SOG had earlier issued arrest warrant of Habib Khan Gauran, and a massive search operation was carried out to arrest him. With rejection of the bail application, the earlier orders have again come into force and police are bound to arrest Gauran.

“We have enough evidence against him that suggest his involvement in the paper leak. All records have been scanned, statements of people working in the printing press have been recorded and a detailed investigation has been carried out,” a senior SOG officer said.
The investigation has revealed that Gauran misused his post to leak question paper and help his daughter, who secured 10th rank in the RJS exams.

Highly placed sources in the police said a contract to print the RJS question paper was given to a local press in Ahmedabad. Gauran then visited the press and reportedly asked for the manuscript.
