BMRCL to commence underground works soon

In a statement on Thursday,  BMRCL Managing Director  N Sivasailam said: " In the first quarter of 2010, the UG works will commence.  Viaducts and stations of the Eastern Line from Baiyappanahalli to Cricket Stadium will be substantially completed by June / July 2010."
He said the final design (mockup) of the coaches/rolling stock will be ready in February and that the first train set is expected in October and the test run is expected a month later.

"The Eastern Line is expected to be operational by December 2010. Simultaneously, the work on the Northern Line that we expect to operationalise in June 2011 is gaining momentum. The work of the underground section will be in full swing by mid 2010," he added.

The BMRCL also said it would work much closer with sister organisations like BBMP, BWSSB, Traffic Police, BDA, KPTCL, BESCOM and NGOs  like Citi-Connect, CBOs like BCIC in 2010 than it did at any time earlier.
