Tailor thrashed for attempting rape

Public caught a tailor, who tried to rape a five-year-old girl, and beat him up near Chikkabidrakallu under Peenya police limits on Wednesday.

According to police, Rajanna tried to rape the victim, who resides next to his house. Around 4 pm, he lured the girl by offering chocolates as she was playing in front of her house.

As he undressed her, she started crying and the nearby residents went there to check and found her without clothes. They caught hold of the accused and thrashed him. The accused fled the spot.

The parents of the victim, who work in a garment factory, learnt about the incident after they returned home from work. They lodged a complaint against the accused, who has been booked under Pocso Act.

Police seize stolen items

The Bengaluru district police have solved 65 cases of robbery, dacoity, burglary and theft in the last three months and arrested 95 persons. The cases solved include eight dacoity and 24 house break and theft cases.

A senior police official said gold weighing 3.914 kg, silver weighing 2.850 kg, cash of Rs 2.56 lakh, red sanders weighing 4,992 kg, a revolver and two live rounds of ammunition have been seized from the accused.

Police said two cases were registered in connection with transportation of red sanders in Hoskote and Sarjapura police limits.
